Hottest. Year. Ever.

Hottest. Year. Ever. | Rolling Stone Politics | National Affairs | Tim Dickinson on Political News.

This just in. I hate to admit it when I make a mistake but in my December 30 post, I mistakenly said that 2010 would be the 3rd warmest year on record. I was wrong: according to NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center, the Japanese Meteorological Agency and the Met Office Hadley Centre in the United Kingdom, 2010 was tied for the hottest year ever – even hotter than 1998, which was a particular scorcher due to a strong El Nino that year. Last year was also the hottest year ever recorded in Canada.

So while global warming deniers are having a heyday with all the snow piling up in England and the eastern U.S., the average global climate (not the weather) just keeps on getting warmer, year after year.
